Android, for creators
Is there a DoubleTake app for Android?
No. FiLMiC’s DoubleTake app is for iPhone and iPad, and we found no version of it on Google Play. On Android, InspectCam™’s Dual does the same core thing free: what you film is the main picture and your face sits in a small window, in one video, on phones that can run both cameras.

Record front and back camera at the same time on Android
- Install InspectCam™ and open it. It’s free on Google Play.
- Pick VIDEO and tap Dual under the shutter (or in Tools), on the back camera. Your face pops up in a small window. No Dual button? See why.
- Place your window. Drag it with one finger, size it with two. Videos show it where you put it.
- Hit the red button and talk. The clip saves to your gallery, in an InspectCam™ folder, ready for TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
Record a five-second test and play it back first. Dual works in PHOTO too, for a still with both cameras in it. The full guide: how to record front and back camera at the same time.
Get InspectCam™ free on Google Play. Dual has nothing to unlock.
What creators use DoubleTake for, and how to do it on Android
DoubleTake’s makers, its App Store reviewers and tech sites on two-camera video name these uses. Here’s each one in InspectCam™.
- Reactions. The back camera films the thing: the reveal, the game, the view. Your face reacts in the small window. Drag it to a corner where it doesn’t cover the action.
- Vlogs and walk-and-talks. The street ahead fills the video while you talk in the window. Use both hands and walk slower than feels natural.
- Interviews and two-person chats. Put the phone between you and your guest: the back camera films them, the front films you. It’s one video with you small, not a 50/50 split.
- Travel. The view is the main picture, and you say where you are in the window. No flipping the camera and missing the moment.
- Concerts and events. The stage or the field fills the video, your reaction sits in the window. Keep takes short: two cameras work the phone hard.
- Tutorials and DIY. Your hands and the project on the back camera, your face explaining in the window. A phone stand frees both hands.
- Product demos and unboxings. The product fills the video and your first reaction shows in the window. No cutting between two clips later.
- Food reviews. The plate on the big picture, your first bite in the window. In a dim spot, the back light can stay on while you record.

Tips for better picture-in-picture clips
- Go vertical. Hold the phone upright for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. TikTok’s own guide calls for tall 9:16 video.
- Keep the window off the subject. Drag your face away from other faces, text or the product in the main shot. Two fingers make it bigger or smaller.
- Light your face. The light is on the back, so the small window gets none. Face a window or a lamp, and don’t stand with the light behind you. More in lighting your face for video.
- Mind the sound. Talk close and skip noisy spots. Your music keeps playing — even while you record video. Whatever the speaker plays ends up in the clip too, so pause it while you talk.
- Keep takes short. Two cameras work the phone hard. Rest the phone between clips and keep it out of direct sun. If it gets very hot while you aren’t recording, Dual turns off to let it cool.

DoubleTake and InspectCam™ side by side
DoubleTake is FiLMiC’s two-camera app, now sold by Bending Spoons. Here’s how it compares with InspectCam™’s Dual.

Who should pick which
- DoubleTake, if you’re on an iPhone or iPad and need a 50/50 split screen, each camera as its own file for editing, or two back lenses at once.
- InspectCam™, if you’re on Android and want one ready-to-post video: your shot full size, your face in a window you place. Dual is free, with no ads.
Some phones have it built in: Dual Capture in the newest iPhones’ Camera app, and Dual recording on some Samsung Galaxy phones. Filming work, not content? Here’s how to film the job and explain it in one video.
No Dual button?
Your phone decides, not the app: some Android phones don’t let apps run the front and back cameras together, and on those InspectCam™ hides the Dual button instead of showing one that fails. Check you’re on the back camera first, then read why some phones can’t use both cameras at once.
Questions about DoubleTake for Android
Is the DoubleTake app available for Android?
No. The DoubleTake app is for iPhone and iPad, and we found no version on Google Play (checked 25 October 2026). On Android, InspectCam™’s Dual does the same core thing free, on phones that can run both cameras.
What is the DoubleTake app?
FiLMiC’s two-camera video app for iPhone and iPad, now sold by Bending Spoons. It films with two cameras at once: a picture-in-picture window, a 50/50 split screen, or each camera as its own file.
Is there a DoubleTake APK?
We found no official one: FiLMiC’s page links DoubleTake to Apple’s App Store only. Skip APK sites and use Google Play. The “DoubleTake” we found on Google Play is a spot-the-difference game from another developer, not the camera app.
Is the DoubleTake app free?
It’s free to download from the App Store, with in-app purchases. InspectCam™’s Dual is free on Android, with no ads and nothing to unlock.
Can I record picture-in-picture on Android?
Yes, on phones that can run both cameras. In InspectCam™, tap Dual: the back camera fills the video and your face sits in a small window. Some Samsung Galaxy phones also have Dual recording in the Camera app.
Can I record split screen on Android with InspectCam™?
No. InspectCam™ records the back camera full size with your face in a small window, not a 50/50 split. Samsung says its Dual recording has a Split layout on select Galaxy phones.
Can I save the two cameras as separate files?
Not in InspectCam™: it saves one video with both cameras in it. DoubleTake can save separate files on iPhone, and Samsung says its Galaxy S22 and S23 series can too.
Does it work on Samsung and Pixel?
It depends on the phone, not the brand. Dual works on our Pixel 6a; our older Pixel 4a 5G doesn’t allow two cameras at once, so the button doesn’t show.
Does recording with both cameras make my phone hot?
It can. Keep takes short and rest the phone between clips.
